THE FOLK OF GLOUCESTER

Please come and join the team from Gloucester Ghost Walks at The Folk of Gloucester, 99-103 Westgate Street, Gloucester, GL1 2PG.

At the heart of Gloucester stands a remarkable building that has witnessed over 500 years of change.  Formerly known as the Gloucester Folk Museum, this beautiful historic place has lived many lives and each one has left its mark, it is believed that Bishop John Hooper was once housed there before his execution in 1555, whether legend or recorded history the story adds a powerful layer already rich with human experience.  Standing inside it is impossible not to feel connected to the past.  Through the centuries, the Folk of Gloucester has been many things, a sweet shop, a fish mongers, a cobblers. a funeral directors, an auction room and even a pins and needle factory where children once worked due to their small hands and fingers.  Every chapter adds depth to the buildings story, creating an atmosphere that is both fascinating and thought provoking.  Come and explore this unique location using a mix of traditional and modern paranormal investigation methods and equipment, from emf meters and digital recorders to quieter more observational techniques, we aim to investigate respectfully, openly and without preconceptions.  This experience is designed for both believers and sceptics, you don't need to be convinced in advance, just curious.  Our focus is on history, atmosphere and the possibility that a place with such a long layered past may still hold echoes of those who lived and worked there.  As evening falls and the building grows quiet, subtle changes begin to emerge, the creak of old floor boards, shifts in temperature and the natural stillness of a centuries old place invite you to slow down, look closer and experience the building in a way few ever do.  We do not promise fear, we do not promise proof, what we offer is the chance to step into 500 years of history, explore the unknown with an open mind and decide for yourself what stories The Folk of Gloucester still has to tell.  Come an join us and be part of the investigation.
